UFC on ESPN 43 card is officially set, although it will be
continuing with one less fight than originally scheduled.
Main event fighters Marlon Vera
Sandhagen had no issue making weight, as did most of the card.
Torres was forced off the card due to “weight management
issues” and never weighed in. As a result, his lightweight fight
against Trey Ogden
has been canceled.
This marks the third straight main event for Vera (20-7-1), who is
coming off an impressive head kick knockout of Dominick
Cruz. “Chito” has won four straight fights, which includes
impressive victories over Rob Font and
Edgar. The Ecuadorian fighter officially weighed 136 pounds on
Sandhagen (15-4) successfully bounced back from decision defeats to
Dillashaw and Petr Yan with
a TKO stoppage over Yadong Song
in his last outing. Now he’ll look to become a top contender once
again by emerging victorious in what will be his fourth UFC main
event. The American weighed 135.5 pounds.
UFC on ESPN 43 will air in its entirety on ESPN and ESPN+. The main
card starts at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, while the prelims begin at 4
p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT.
