ONE Fight Night 11 featured an eclectic, electric mix of mixed
martial arts, muay thai, Western kickboxing and even submission
grappling.
In the main event, arguably the best muay thai kickboxer in the
world today, Regian
Eersel, faced superb contender Dmitry Menshikov. Eersel was the
reigning ONE champion and had been perfect in the promotion, with
his last loss, since avenged, occurring all the way back in 2016.
Menshikov was no slouch either, having last lost since 2017 and at
25 years old, getting better and better with each outing. However,
the tantalizing contest lasted just 46 seconds. Eersel scored a
body kick to draw the challenger’s attention away then landed a
left hook to the temple so pretty one could frame it over the
fireplace. Menshikov crashed to the canvas and was on wobbly feet,
prompting a stoppage from referee Olivier Coste.
In the co-main event, 20 year-old phenom Kade Ruotolo defended his
ONE lightweight submission grappling throne against Norway’s
Tommy
Langaker. The match ended up being very close, with Langaker
locking in a few tight heel hooks that Ruotolo just barely escaped
from. However, Ruotolo still won a unanimous decision, retaining
his title.
There were fireworks in the top-billed MMA fight on the card as
Russia’s Ilya
Freymanov battled Mongolia’s Shinechagtga
Zoltsetseg. Zoltsetseg nearly knocked out Freymanov in the
opening seconds, flooring and hurting his foe badly. However,
Freymanov managed to survive and just two minutes later, he scored
a knockdown of his own. Not letting the opportunity get away, he
delivered vicious ground-and-pound and sunk in a deep rear-naked
choke, ending the dynamic contest at the 2:18 mark.
If this was an MMA highlight we’d lose our
damn mind. Respect Superbon 🇹🇭 for this one!

After losing his ONE lightweight kickboxing title to Chingiz
Allazov earlier this year, Thai living legend “Superbon” Singha
Mawynn faced fellow contender Tayfun “The Turkish Turbine” Ozcan.
It was a competitive affair until early in the second stanza, when
Superbon unleashed a golden left head kick in the midst of an Ozcan
punching combination. It landed perfectly and left Ozcan an inert
body on the canvas. Superbon demanded a rematch with Allazov for
the title after the spectacular knockout.
Russia’s Mansur
Malachiev stayed perfect, moving to 11-0, while delivering a
brutal, one-sided beating on Jeremy
Miado. He easily took Miado down, softened him up with
ground-and-pound and finished with a tight brabo choke at the end
of the first round. Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Arian
Sadikovic soundly defeated 39 year-old Dutch kickboxer Nieky
Holzken, outworking his older foe.
Kwon
Won Il authored a stunning comeback against Artem
Belakh. Belakh nearly submitted Il in the first minute of the
contest, but the South Korean came roaring back, firing punches
despite his face being a mask of blood. Finally, he overwhelmed the
Russian with blows, causing referee Herb Dean to
waive off the contest at 3:57 of the second round.
In a 129-pound catchweight women’s muay thai affair, England’s
Amber Kitchen started very strong but couldn’t keep it up,
eventually falling to the size and range of Italy’s Martine
Michieletto, who took a unanimous judges’ verdict; China’s Yong Hu and
South Korea’s Sung Hoon
Woo gave one another no quarter for 15 minutes, hammering away
at one another any way they could in what was likely the fight of
the night. In the end, Hu garnered a split decision in the highly
spirited affair; Serbian heavyweight kickboxer Rade Opacic
avenged a loss to long-time top Brazilian contender Guto
Inocente, dropping his foe with a huge right cross in the
opening period en route to a unanimous decision.
