APPT Cambodia

The NagaWorld Integrated Resort in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is set to be packed with poker players from Asia and further afield when the PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) returns for the second time in six months from May 5. Cambodia is rapidly turning into a poker hotbed, and PokerNews is delighted to reveal its team of live reporters are heading to Vietnam and bringing you coverage of the $1,500 buy-in $400,000 guaranteed APPT Vietnam Main Event.

APPT Vietnam explodes into action on May 5 with the APPT NagaWorld Kickoff, a $350 buy-in event featuring a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. Last year’s equivalent tournament saw Mai Bien outlast 298 opponents on his way to collecting $15,709.

The $800 buy-in $100,000 guaranteed APPT National runs May 7-10. Some 204 entrants competed in this event at the 2022 APPT Cambodia festival, and South Korean Seongmin Lee came out on top to bank $30,133.

Don’t miss any of the action from the $400,000 guaranteed PokerStars APPT Cambodia Main Event.

Another highlight on the schedule is the $10,000 buy-in APPT Cambodia Super High Roller on May 10-11. Although this event does not boast a guarantee on its prize pool, there should be some decent prizes up for grabs. Last season’s Super High Roller attracted ten entrants, and saw Ireland’s Gary Thompson defeat Michael Soyza heads-up to clinch the title and $47,045. Soyza banked $28,227, with Pete Chen collecting $18,818 for his third-place finish.

Of course, it is the APPT Cambodia Main Event that every player wants make their own. Costing $1,500 to enter, the APPT Cambodia Main Event has three starting flights, the first shuffling up and dealing on May 12. The three-day affair crowns its champion on May 15, and that worthy champion will secure the lion’s share of the $400,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Relive the 2022 APPT Cambodia Main Event action

Last year’s APPT Cambodia Main Event field was 378 players strong, and they fought it out for a slice of the $494,991 cake. Among those who reached the money places included 2019 WPT Vietnam champion Hamish Crawshaw, high roller regular Paul Newey, Natalie Teh, 2022 APPT Manila Main Event third-place finisher Dhanesh Chainani, and Sofia Lovgren.

The Main Event was eventually won by Canada’s Alexander Puchalski, who lives in neighboring Thailand and made the short journey to Cambodia. Puchalski earned $96,028 for his impressive victory, and it would be surprising not to see him in our Main Event coverage come May 12.
