The
Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to ESPN airwaves with a
middleweight main event.
Headling
UFC on ESPN 48 is a five-round fight between Sean
Strickland and Abusupiyan
Magomedov. Both men successfully made weight for the main
event, as did the rest of the fighters on the 12-fight card.
Strickland (26-5) bounced back from a two-fight skid by defeating
Nassourdine
Imavov in his last outing. The win came after back-to-back
defeats to Jared
Cannonier and Alex
Pereira. Prior to the setbacks, “Tarzan” had won six straight
fights inside the Octagon. Strickland officially weighed 186 pounds
on the dot.
This marks the first UFC main event for Magomedov (25-4-1). “Abus”
won his debut in just 19 seconds, delivering a front kick that
knocked out Dustin
Stoltzfus. The Russian officially stepped on the scale at 186
pounds.
UFC on ESPN 48 prelims will begin at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT on ESPN
and ESPN+. The main card then kicks off at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
