A quartet of Irish fan favorites will compete on the
Bellator 299 draw in Dublin on Sept. 23.
The California-based promotion announced the following four bouts
on Monday: Peter
Queally vs. Daniele
Miceli at welterweight; Ciaran
Clarke vs. Przemyslaw
Gorny at featherweight; Darragh
Kelly vs. Jelle
Zeegers at featherweight and Charlie
Ward vs. Gregory
Babene at middleweight. All four contests are currently slated
for the Bellator 299 preliminary card.
Bellator 299 takes place at 3Arena in Dublin and is headlined by a
middleweight championship clash between Johnny
Eblen and Fabian
Edwards. The main card airs on Showtime at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT,
while prelims stream on the Bellator MMA YouTube channel and Pluto
TV at 11 .m. ET/8 a.m. PT.
A former lightweight title challenger, Queally has lost his last
three promotional appearances, including a second-round TKO defeat
against Bryce Logan
at Bellator 291 on Feb. 25. Italy’s Micele will be fighting with
the organization for the first time since April 2016, when he
suffered a first-round TKO loss against Daniele
Scatizzi at Bellator 152.
Anchored at SBG Ireland, Clarke is unbeaten in seven professional
outings — all under the Bellator banner. Poland’s Gorny enters the
matchup on the three-bout winning streak on regional circuit.
Kelly, another SBG Ireland export, has won his first three bouts
with the promotion, including a third-round stoppage of Jordan
Dorval at Bellator 291. The Netherland’s Zeegers owns a 2-2
career mark with his last fight taking place in November 2021.
The 42-year-old Ward was unsuccessful in his first fight of 2023,
when he dropped a unanimous verdict to Mike
Shipman at Bellator 291 on Feb. 25. Babene, a native of Paris,
is in the midst of a seven-bout winning streak that includes four
triumphs under the Bellator banner.
